Colophon

This is the sixth iteration of this website since I began publishing online around 1997, my site has always served as a testing ground for new ideas and techniques learned. It has evolved from text-only, to HTML, and now to XHTML/PHP/FLASH/CSS. It seems the more alphabet soup letters I add to it, the better it looked while making it simpler for me to modify.

History

Early on, the site was totally static, with each updates manually done in notepad using basic HTML tags. Then later on, I started experimenting with Blogger, Typepad, and Wordpress. Of course not one to leave a good thing alone, I also experimented with Joomla, and other CMS to only realize the more complicated I made the site, the harder it was to backup and recover from a disaster. For a while, my solution required no mySQL database yet retained some semantic features of programs like wordpress or Joomla. Without the database backbone, the site was wickedly fast with backups/restores very easy due to plain HTML pages. Finally, I gave in and started using Wordpress again. It was more powerful at the time and I learned how to create themes and plugins.

Most of the creation has been done primarily in VIM. I sometime load up Dreamweaver to check CSS syntax and for the color wheel.
